India’s participation in equestrian sports at the Asian Games has been minimal, with only sporadic appearances. The country has not been a consistent contender in this discipline throughout the history of the Asian Games.

Even though the representation has been less, Indian athletes have managed to pocket a total of 12 medals in Equestrian at the Asian Games. Out of these 12, three medals have been Gold, three Silver, and six Bronze.
1982 Asian Games
India pocketed a total of 5 medals in the 1982 Asian Games out of the total of 12 to date in equestrian sports.
In the individual eventing sport, all three medals were acquired by Indian players. The gold medal was won by Raghubir Singh, the silver medal was won by Ghulam Mohammed Khan, and the bronze medal was won by Prahlad Singh.
In team eventing, the gold medal was won by the Indian quadruple of Raghubir Singh, Ghulam Mohd. Khan, Bishal Singh, and Milkha Singh. Rupinder Singh Brar grabbed the Gold medal in the Individual tent pegging event.
1986 Asian Games
India won a second consecutive medal in the team eventing sport as the four Indian players, Raghubir Singh, Ghulam Mohd. Khan, Ishwar Singh, and Adhiraj Singh, won bronze. In the team dressage event, the Indian trio of Raghubir Singh, Ghulam Mohd. Khan, and Jitendrajit Singh won a bronze medal.
1998 Asian Games
The Indian contingent again won a team eventing bronze medal in 1998. The players were Imtiaz Anees, Amlokjit Singh, Rajesh Pattu, and Palwinder Singh.
2002 Asian Games
A fourth bronze medal was pocketed by the Indian players in the team eventing sport of Equestrian. The players this time around were Indrajit Lamba, Bhagirath Singh, Rajesh Pattu, and Deep Kumar Ahlawat.
2006 Asian Games
India won a third consecutive and fifth bronze medal in the team eventing sport at the 2006 Asian Games. The quadruple consisted of Palwinder Singh, Bhagirath Singh, Rajesh Pattu, and Deep Kumar Ahlawat.
2018 Asian Games
In individual eventing, Fouaad Mirza won a silver medal for India. Again in the team eventing, India won a medal, but this time a silver, courtesy of Rakesh Kumar, Ashish Malik, Jitender Singh, and Fouaad Mirza.
