Joe Root becomes father

England’s regular skipper Joe Root has become a father for the second time as his wife Carrie gave birth to the second child on Wednesday. Root had already opted out of the warm-up matches as well as the first test match against West Indies as he was awaiting the birth of his second child.

Finally, he became the father for the second time after his wife gave birth to another child. The England skipper took to Instagram where he posted a picture of the newborn baby captioned: “Good luck boys @englandcricket We will be watching and supporting you all the way! #cricketisback”

Greetings erupted on his Instagram post as the fans wished him Congratulations and also hoped him for returning back to the field in the next test. The couple already has a three-year-old boy named Alfred William and the addition of a new member has surely brought joy to the family.

In his absence, England team is being led by the all-rounder Ben Stokes in the first Test at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. However, the rain-delayed the toss to the extent that the match officials had to announce early lunch.

As of now, there is no certainty that Root will join the side in the second test or not but he remains hopeful of doing so. But before that, he will have to follow the mandatory self-isolation protocol for seven days before joining the England team for remaining series.

The second test against West Indies is scheduled to start from July 16 at the Old Trafford, followed by the third test from July 24-28.
