Eric Gordon scored a career-high 50 points as he led his side Houston Rocket to a win over the Utah Jazz in their road win on Tuesday. Houston Rockets entered this contest without Russell Westbrook (load management), James harden (Thigh injury) and Clint Capela (Heel) as it was assumed that Utah Jazz would win this one at their home easily. Utah Jazz’s fifth game winning streak came to an end as they are now 18-4 at the home and 32-14 overall in the Western Conference.
For Utah Jazz, Donovan Mitchell showed up by scoring 36 points in the contest. He completed 3 rebounds and was involved in 4 assists. Bojan Bogdanovic scored 30 points for the defeated Utah Jazz on the night. In fact, it was Gordon’s first game in the season when he scored more than 30 points in a match. His previous best figures were 41 points against the Oklahoma City Thunder back in 2009.
From the Houston side, Eric Gordon was the one leading all the way form the front as he finished with 50 points on 14-of-22 shooting and hit six 3-pointers. Other with a considerable contribution were Danuel House Jr. (21 Points) and Austin Rivers (21 Points) respectively. Absentee James Harden missed his second straight matches but Eric Gordon and Co. made sure that they bounced back from the defeat against the Denver Nuggets.
Houston Rockets were in a lead in all the four quarters as the scores after the first quarter was 28-20 as Rockets were 8 points ahead of the Jazz. It seemed that the absence of big guns Russell Westbrook and James Harden had minimal impact on Houston’s offense. Eric Gordon compiled 15 points at the end of the second quarter as the scores were 59-46, 13 points ahead of the Jazz.
The third quarter saw Utah Jazz trimming the difference with the help of three consecutive three-pointers from Bojan Bogdanovic. The scores in the mid of the third quarter was 72-66. The scores at the end of the third quarter were 87-75 in which Utah Jazz outscored the Rockets 29-28.
The fourth quarter belonged to Utah Jazz as they continued their quarter’s momentum and outscored the Houston Rockets by scoring 42 points in the final quarter, 3 points more than the visitors. Rudy Gobert grasped a game-high 14 points in the match. The final scores at the end of the fourth quarter were 117-126. Houston Rockets after winning this one travel to Moda Center for a road matchup with the Portland Trail Blazers while Utah Jazz hits the road for the match-up with the San Antonio Spurs at AT&T Center on Thursday.
