Ind vs Aus Fielding Prowess for World Test Championship Final

ind vs aus wtc final

Fielding which is often neglected by teams during practice, is a very important part of the game. Teams that don’t focus on it suffer during the match as one good stop or one misfield can cost teams the match and we have seen it.

When you are playing an important match and especially an ICC World Test Championship Final, you cannot neglect fielding otherwise there will be only regret. Test match fielding is a skill not many are able to accomplish as the atmosphere is very different there. Slip-catching, close-in catching, wicket-keeping, maintaining concentration while fielding in the deep, and fielding for long hours are all the factors associated with test match fielding.

Well, India and Australia both have some very good fielders in their ranks and they just need to not get complacent.

The Indian team has an excellent fielder and probably the current-best fielder in the world, Ravindra Jadeja. He has a Bullet arm, Velcro hands, and eyesight like a Cheetah. There is no player in the Australian team who even comes close to Jadeja in terms of fielding but we feel their best fielder is Steve Smith. Smith can catch any ball around him and has a very safe pair of hands.

Slip fielding is also a very different and important ball game in test cricket. It will define where the match goes as bowlers can make the batters edge the ball but at the end, the catch has to be completed.

India’s slip cordon includes players like Virat Kohli, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, etc. and all of them are very good fielders.

Australian slip cordon will probably consist of Steve Smith, Usman Khwaja, Cameron Green, David Warner, etc. Apart from Smith, Green is also a very good fielder.

Wicket-keeping will also play a major role in the match as India is without their first-choice keeper, Rishabh Pant. Australian keeper, Alex Carey is one of the best of the lot and he will be very good behind the wickets.

India will still have to decide about who their keeper will be in the match, whether Ishan Kishan or K.S. Bharat. Whomever the keeper is, he will have a huge task in his hands keeping the wickets for the first time in England.
