IND vs AUS 1st Test : Rohit Sharma creates history, becomes first Indian Captain to score a ton in all three formats

Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma continued his dominance from ODIs by becoming the first player to reach nine centuries in the longest format of the game during the first Test against Australia in Nagpur. This ended the long wait for a Test century.

The last time Rohit scored in the triple digits was against England at the Oval in September of 2021. He finally hit the triple-digit score on Day 2 of the Nagpur Test, ending a one and a half year drought. By doing so, he made history by being the first Indian captain to hit a century in each of the game’s three formats.

This was hisĀ first century against Australia in a Test match. With the help of 14 fours and two sixes, he was able to score his century. Rohit’s century in this test is his first as captain.

With a strike rate of over 80 and a score of 56 off 69 balls at the conclusion of Day 1, Rohit has been hitting runs at a good clip in the opening Test. Even though he completed his ninth hundred in the longest version of the game in just 171 balls on the second day, his strike-rate did drop since wickets kept dropping at the opposite end of the pitch.

Former India head coach Ravi Shastri, was thrilled by the way he batted on Day 1 “Rohit Sharma won’t let any bowler get comfortable when he is batting. Not simply because of the runs he will receive, but also because of the rate at which he receives them, his form can set the terms in this BGT. His performance as an opener is incredible “.
