The annual list of ICC’s T20I team of they year is out and it is heavily dominated by players from India. Entering this prestigious list is a huge honor for any cricket player as it is kind of like a nod for the hard work every player puts in throughout the entire year.
ICC Women’s T20I team of the year 2022 : 4 Indian players made it to the list
This year 7 Indian players have made it to the list including male as well as female players. This shows how much Women’s cricket in India has developed as 4 players have been included. Smriti Mandhana, Richa Ghosh, Deepti Sharma and Renuka Singh have been nodded by the ICC for their performance in 2022.
Mandhana in 2022, scored 594 runs with an average of 33.00 alongside a strike rate of 133.48. She smacked 5 half-centuries in 21 innings in 2022. Off-spinner Dipti Sharma collected 29 wickets with a brilliant economy rate of over 6 and also amassed runs with the bat too.
She scored 370 runs with a strike rate of 136.02. Youngster Richa Ghosh had an outstanding year as well as she scored 259 runs with a daunting strike rate of over 150 and struck 13 sixes while batting in the lower order.
As for the Men’s team of the year, Surya Kumar Yadav, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya have been included in the list. Surya Kumar Yadav had the best year by far than any other cricketer this year in T20s. He finished the year as the number 1 batter in the format with 1164 runs – the highest in T20 this year.
He amassed over 1000 runs by scoring 2 Full centuries and 9 half-centuries with a strike rate of 189.68. Former Indian captain Virat Kohli broke his much awaited drought of a Ton during the Asia Cup T20 against Afghanistan.
All-rounder Hardik Pandya also had a great 2022 as he became the full-time captain of India’s T20 team. He contributed with bat and bowl. Pandya scored 607 runs and took 20 wickets.
