In the Indian Premier League today, Mumbai Indians will face Royal Challengers Bangalore (MI vs RCB) at Wankhede Stadium. Before this important match, the host team has suffered a big setback. Their batsman has been injured and ruled out of all the remaining matches of IPL 2024.

The wicketkeeper-batsman of MI, Vishnu Vinod, has been ruled out of the remaining matches of IPL 2024 due to serious injury. In place of Vishnu Vinod, Saurashtra’s young Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Harvik Desai has got the place in Mumbai Indians squad.

Indian premier league issued a media advisory on its website in which they wrote, ‘Wicketkeeper batsman Vishnu Vinod has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2024 due to his hand injury. Mumbai Indians have added Saurashtra wicketkeeper-batsman Harvik Desai to the team as a replacement. 

Harvik Desai, who is 24 years old, has a century in all three formats of the game and has also been a member of India’s Under-19 team that won the World Cup 2018.

Vishnu Vinod has played 6 matches so far in his IPL career. In the year 2017, he was a part of Royal Challengers Bangalore, while last year he played 3 matches for Mumbai Indians but due to injury, he will not be able to be a part of the remaining tournament. 

Harvick Desai, who joined in his place, has not played a single match in the IPL yet but He has performed well for his team at the domestic level. Harvik Desai has scored 691 runs in 27 T20 matches at an average of 30.04, which also includes a brilliant century. Harvik Desai was also a part of the India Under-19 team in 2018, where the team won the title under the captaincy of Prithvi Shaw. In the final match against Australia, the winning shot came from the bat of Harvik Desai.
