The Australia tour of England 2020 started with the first T20 being played on Friday in Southampton. England defeated visitors in a last-ball thriller by 2 runs. Australian would look to make a comeback and square the series 1-1 ahead of the second T20 on Sunday.
Australia:
They were brilliant with the ball. Finch and Co. restricted a dangerous English batting line up to 162 in 20 overs. Pacers went for plenty during the power play but spinners brought Australia back into the game. Finch won’t have too many complaints as far as the bowling is concerned. Mitchell Starc, though, would look to exhibit a better show in the second T20.
The top -3 in the form of David Warner, Steve Smith and Aaron Finch holds the key to Australian batting. Problems lie plenty in the middle order for Australia. Their middle-order woes continue to haunt them. In an important game on Sunday, the likes of Glenn Maxwell, Ashton Agar and Alex Carey need to step up to the plate and showcase a better performance with the bat.
ENGLAND:
Jos Buttler gave England a blistering start in the first T20. He will be likely to open with Jonny Bairstow ahead of the second T20. David Malan continues to perform in the shortest format of the game as he would look to replicate his performance in the second ODI.
Tom Banton is likely to bat at number four while Eoin Morgan would look to carry on with his imperious form. Jofra Archer bowled brilliantly in the first T20 as, once again, he would hold key for England bowling in the second T20 international. Given the way English bowlers bowled in the first T20, England would look to go with the same combinations.
ENG VS AUS: PITCH REPORT
A high-scoring game could well be on the cards. Spinners, though, have made a great amount of purchase from the wicket. Both the teams would look to go with at least two frontline spinners in their side.
