Day 13 of the highly anticipated Asian Games 2023 saw Indian athletes showcasing their unwavering determination and skill on the grand stage. At the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, the Indian men’s Hockey team displayed remarkable prowess as they defeated Japan 5-1 in the final, clinching the coveted gold medal. The victory not only brought honour to the nation but also secured a direct quota for the 2024 Paris Olympics.


The Indian men’s team, consisting of Raju Tolani, Ajay Prabhakar Kahre, Rajeshwar Tewari, and Sumit Mukherjee, showcased their exceptional skills and teamwork to claim silver in the Bridge competition.


In the field of archery, the Indian women’s team began the day on a high note by defeating Vietnam in the Bronze medal match of the Recurve Archery Women’s team event. The Indian Men’s team followed suit, clinching silver after an impressive performance, finishing second to the powerhouse South Korean team.


Badminton aficionados witnessed a gripping battle in the Men’s Singles event, where HS Prannoy represented India. Although he secured the bronze medal, his remarkable journey was marked by fierce competition, ultimately losing to China’s Li Shifeng with a score of 16-21, 9-21 in the semifinal.


History was made in the world of Sepaktakraw as India achieved a bronze medal in the Women’s Regu event. Despite a valiant effort, the Indian women’s team had to settle for bronze after a tough semifinal clash with Thailand, which ended 2-0 (21-10, 21-13) in favour of Thailand.


Wrestling proved to be a goldmine for India as Sonam, Kiran, and Aman each secured bronze medals in their respective repechage matches. These victories contributed significantly to India’s overall medal tally, which now stands at an impressive 93 medals.

As the Asian Games 2023 unfolds, India continues to maintain its position in the top tier, currently occupying the fourth spot with an outstanding collection of 22 gold, 34 silver, and 39 bronze medals, bringing the total to 95 medals.
