ONIC Esports showed their dominance once again in the Southeast Asia region.
The current champions of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup (MSC) added another international title to their name. They achieved this victory by defeating Bigetron Alpha with a clean sweep of 4-0 in the grand final of the ESL Snapdragon Pro Series Season 3 SEA Challenge Finals on Sunday, July 23, at the Istora Senayan in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Despite not being the top seed in the group stage, ONIC displayed remarkable performance throughout the playoffs. They didn’t lose a single series on their path to victory. As the two-time defending MPL Indonesia winners, they not only claimed the championship trophy but also secured the top prize of US$65,000.
ONIC Esports Finish Title Run with a Perfect 4-0 Win Over Bigetron Alpha
ONIC Esports easily reached the championship series by defeating Yoodo Red Giants, RSG Slate Philippines, and AP Bren in the upper bracket.
Bigetron Alpha kept their promise and eliminated the Filipino teams to create an all-Indonesian grand final. They swept RSG Slate PH, ECHO, and AP Bren in the lower bracket.
In the first game of the final series, ONIC halted Bigetron’s momentum with an impressive performance. Kairi “Kairi” Rayosdelsol’s Hayabusa and Calvin “CW” Winata’s Wanwan led ONIC to a 10-2 victory in just 13 minutes.
ONIC continued their dominance in the second game, with Muhammad “Butsss” Sanubari’s Uranus acting as a protective shield for Kairi’s Joy and CW’s Beatrix. They secured a 16-3 win in 16 minutes.
Despite Bigetron’s effort in the third game, ONIC remained strong. Nicky “Kiboy” Fernando’s Chou made a crucial play by eliminating Saken, one of Bigetron’s players, inside their base at the 20-minute mark, which helped ONIC achieve a 3-0 series advantage.
ONIC Esports ended their flawless run with a commanding 12-4 victory in only 12 minutes in the fourth game. Gilang “S A N Z” played Pharsa, and CW used Claude to lead the charge, achieving a total KDA of 6/0/15.
Now, the team will look to maintain their strong performance as the MPL ID Season 12 resumes on July 27.
