IPL 2022: Players who didn’t share a good relation off the ground but ended up playing for the same franchise in IPL

IPL is not just a T20 cricket tournament, it’s about the emotions, passion, rivalries, friendships, and bonds that the teammates share even after being from different countries. It’s not necessary that each and every teammate share a friendly bond with each other, but sometimes players who don’t share a friendly relationship with each other end up playing for the same IPL franchise.

Let’s talk about players who didn’t share a good relationship off the ground but ended up playing for the same franchise in the Indian Premier League.

  • Jos Buttler and Ravichandran Ashwin: It was in 2019 when Jos Buttler and Ravichandran Ashwin ended up arguing with each other during a match between Punjab Kings and Rajasthan Royals. Ashwin was bowling and Buttler was on the non-striker end and Buttler was out of his crease even before Ashwin bowled Ashwin noticed that and he ran out Buttler which later become the talk of the town. Buttler wasn’t happy with the umpire’s decision of giving him out, but Ashwin felt he had every right to run him out, and later during the 2022 Mega Auction Ashwin was bought by Rajasthan Royals and they both are now happily playing for the same franchise.

  • Deepak Hooda and Krunal Pandya: It was during 2021; Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy tournament when a fight between Baroda teammates Deepak Hooda and his captain Krunal Pandya came to light and shocked the Indian Domestic Circuit. Later Deepak Hooda decided to leave the Baroda team, he said that Krunal Pandya abused him in front of his teammates and players of other state players he felt humiliated and disrespected so he decide to leave the team, but a year later during the 2022 IPL Mega Auction both Deepak and Krunal were bought by Lucknow Super Giants and they both are now happily playing in the same team.

  • Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds: It was in 2008 during the Sydney Test match when Bret Lee bowled an unplayable bouncer to Harbhajan Singh and it went for a four by hitting the top edge of the bat. Symonds heard that Harbhajan made a racial statement and said Monkey to Symonds and explained the entire incident to the umpire. Later an inquiry was made but they didn’t find conclusive evidence regarding the incident. Later in 2011 both Harbhajan Singh and Andrew Symonds happily played for Mumbai Indians.
