IPL being the top most league in the world is trying to reach wider audience by reaching in different regional languages in form of commentary and their recent addition is Gujrati Commentary which will be introduced for the first time in the history of marquee event.
As the next season of IPL will kickstart from March 26th 2022 onwards with an opening encounter between defending champions Chennai Super Kings and runner up Kolkata Knight Riders at Mumbai Wankhede Stadium.
Star Sports who are official broadcaster of the league have already broadcasted matches in the past in different languages like Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi, English and Bengali and Gujarati is the recent addition in it.
“We all want to show how this IPL is different from the previous 14 and what is new in it. This time IPL will have commentary in Bengali and Malayalam on Saturday and Sunday. Apart from this, we will also do commentary of the entire tournament in Marathi language. The entire IPL is being organized in Pune and Mumbai in Maharashtra.
“No other state in India watches as much cricket as Maharashtra. According to the market and this time in IPL 74 matches will be shown in Marathi language. Apart from this, the Gujarat team is new, so we are doing Gujarati commentary for the first time”, said Sanjog Gupta Head (Sports) of Disney Star as quoted by the Indian Express.
According to reports from different media outlets, Gujarati Commentary panel will have likes of Irfan Pathan, Nayan Mongia and Kiran More who have been roped as commentators.
The two-month tournament will have 74 matches to be played in IPL 2022 with the addition of two more teams in form of Gujarat Titians and Lucknow Super Giants will offer more excitement in already established T20 competition.
