Football News: UEFA decided to remove more Russian clubs from European Competitions

In the recent reports by UEFA officials, Many Russian football Teams will be kicked out of the European Championship.

UEFA decided the teams will be excluded out of the Women’s European Championship, Men’s Champions league and Women’s World Cup 2023.

Earlier in February during the Russia’s invasion on Ukraine following UEFA decided suspending Russian national and club teams in February from playing in international competitions including the men’s World Cup playoffs.

Most of the European teams also supported the decision to ban Russia from participating in future European competitions.

On Monday, UEFA revealed that Portugal will take Russia’s place in the Women’s Euro 2022, although Russia did qualified earlier by beating Portugal in the playoffs round.

In the Champions league football, Russia’s club Zenit St Petersburg will be also replaced by Champions of Scotland.

Confirming the place in Champions league football is worth ten million euros in UEFA prize money to the Club, Zenit St Petersburg is owned by Russian state energy company Gazprom. UEFA also decided to cancel Gazprom sponsorship.

Zenit was also hosting the Champions league final but UEFA moved the finals from Zenit to Paris.

Russian teams will also be out from next season Europa League and Europa Conference league. Teams like Dynamo Moscow, Sochi and CSKA Moscow will miss out from the competition.

UEFA said its executive committee took the latest decisions for its competitions to ”ensure their smooth staging in a safe and secure environment for all those concerned.”

On March during the War between Russia-Ukraine, Russia bids to host the men’s Euros in 2028 were also declined by the UEFA, ruling them ineligible.

UEFA stated, Russia will not play in it’s second-tier group of the men’s Nation league and will get relegated. Russia were decided to play Iceland, Israel and Albania in June and September.

Ukraine’s top football club likes Shakhtar Donetsk and Dynamo Kyiv are currently touring Europe playing charity games and will resume their remaining world Cup qualifying program.

On June 1st, Ukraine will be playing against Scotland and the winner will advance to play Wales for the place at the World Cup in Qatar.
