Russia-Ukraine War: Ukraine athletes go from competing from their country to join war against Russia

We are in middle of war between Russia-Ukraine and many of them professional athletes are taking a stand against Russian President Vladimir Putin’s military preserver in its invasion of Ukraine. Many of Ukrainian professional athletes have come out on to streets with firearms to stop Russian forces and some athletes took a peaceful stand and wanted to end the war.

Here are some Ukrainian Athletes 

Klitschko Brothers ( Former World Boxing Champions)

The Klitschko brothers, Former heavyweight boxing champion Vitali Klitschko and Wladimir Klitschko has vowed to defend their country against the invasion of Russia. Both brothers have decided to take up arms and fight for their country rather than running away

Vitali Klistchko is currently the Mayor of Kyiv, has stated that “I don’t have a choice” but to stay loyal with his country and fight to end this “Senseless War” and also urged local civilians to stay in Ukraine and act against invasion of Russia https://twitter.com/Klitschko/status/1498346499268349958

Oleksandr Usyk (Olympic gold medalist boxer)

 Oleksandr Usyk, former Olympic gold medalist has also vowed to fight against Russia and has demanded President Vladimir Putin to stop war against Ukraine. Legendary Boxer Oleksandr won gold at the 2012 London Olympics. Right after the Russia declared war on Ukraine many of Ukraine professional Boxers have joined the arm force to protect their land.

If we consider ourselves as brothers, Orthodox ones, do not send your children to our country, do not fight with us,” Usyk,  wrote Saturday on Instagram.

“Also, I’m addressing this to the President, Vladimir Putin. You can stop this war. Please just sit down and negotiate it with us without claims.

“Our kids, wives, grannies are hiding in the basements. We are here in our own country, we cannot do it any other way. We are defending. Stop this war, stop it. No war.”

Oleksandr Zinchenko ( Football)

Earlier Ukrainian Manchester City defender Oleksandr Zinchenko recently posted an IG story of Putin stating that he die a “painful suffering death” and  named Russia President a “creature”.

Later on the post was removed and Oleksandr Zinchenko blames Instagram has deleted the post

Two days ago, the Zinchenko released a statement on the social media where he said his “country belongs to Ukrainians and no one will ever be able to appropriate it”.

Andriy Yarmolenko (Football)

WestHam United winger Andriy Yarmolenko also showed love for his country.

“I call on every Ukrainian to unite, to show his loyalty to the country, to support our army,” he said.

“Our strength is freedom, the right to choose, respect and human values.

“Our choice is European Ukraine.

“We are a strong nation, we are on our land and the truth is behind us!
