The Shining Jewels of India in the History of Commonwealth Games

Indian athletes started with their journey in the Commonwealth Games, during 1934. Since then India has won 503 medals – 181 gold, 173 silver, and 149 bronze – at the Commonwealth Games.

The CWG 2010, held in Delhi turned the table for India. India won 101 medals across disciplines and finished second on the medals tally for the first and only time so far. India stands fourth in the all-time medal tally after Australia, England, and Canada.

Many Indian athletes have left their marks in the history of the Commonwealth games since their inception in 1934. What could be greater than starting this year’s CWGs with a remembrance of all the athletes who have their names embossed in the history of CWG.
