The glory of Real Madrid: 34th La Liga Title for Zinedine Zidane’s Side

The victory at Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium on Thursday night confirmed the record 34th La Liga title for the Real Madrid who have been in immaculate form in the league, having won ten of their last ten league games after the lockdown. The winning streak continues against the Yellow Submarine (2-1) at Madrid’s home ground on Thursday and ended all the permutation and combination for bitter rivals Barcelona who was looking for the 3rd successive La Liga titles.

The new La Liga Champion sits at the top of the league table with 86 points from their 37 fixtures, one more game to go. The story of Madrid was inspiring as they lost their summer signing Eden Hazard at the starting of the season and Barcelona added Antoine Griezmann in their forward line but they outplayed Barcelona throughout the season to have the final laugh to secure the title victory.

The updated La Liga 2029-20 Points Table:

Zinedine Zidane who recently became the third Real Madrid manager to take charge of 200 or more matches in all competitions, added one more glory to his trophy cabinet. The Frenchmen led Los Blancos to three successive Champions League titles, a pair of Super Cup, Club World Cup and La Liga titles, and Spanish Super Cup in his two and a half years in charge. Real Madrid won the first La Liga title in three years.

In this title journey, Real Madrid is thankful to the one man who guided the Capital Giants to second La Liga title under Zinadine Zidane – and it’s one and only, Karim Benzema who has been the pillar of Real Madrid’s forward line from 11 years and 2019-20 has been the most influential season for him. A few seasons ago, when Football experts were taking a jibe on Benzema’s career with Real Madrid, the 32-year-old striker delivered most since the departure of Ronaldo to Juventus. He has been the best striker for Real Madrid in the last two years under manager Zinedine Zidane. After playing 35 games in La Liga this season, he has notched up 21 goals and provided eight assists.

Since the restart of season, the center-forward Sergio Ramos has notched up the highest goals in La Liga. The man who was making a call to close the La Liga career and making the plans to play in China before the 2019-20 season, has led the Los Blancos to 34th La Liga Title.

The center-back has netted 10 goals in Spain’s top flight this season and five goals came after the restart of the season following the COVID-19 outbreak. His two goals (Getafe and Athletic) were match-winning as he scored when Madrid needed the most. If Barcelona was riding on the shoulders of Messi, Madrid was coming closer to the title with the enormous display of the game from Benzema and Ramos.

Another name who has been a key figure in Madrid’s midfield line was Casemiro. The Brazilian players led the defence incredibly well with the likes of Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. With his excellent tackling, Casemiro played a vital role in Real Madrid’s triumph after three years. The 28-year-old has netted four goals and provided three assists from 33 appearances this season.

Real Madrid will play their final game against Leganes on July 20 to take the guard of honour. Zinedine Zidane will now prepare for their new assignment next month when they will face Premier League runner-up Manchester City on August 8 in the Champions League.
