Avesh Khan reveals what Rishabh Pant said after Delhi Capitals were outbid in IPL mega auction

Indian young pacer Avesh Khan is going through the best period of his cricketing career with being the net bowler for India in every series they play and international cap knocking on his door to make his debut. During the last IPL season Avesh took 24 wickets in 16 matches with an average of 7.37. In the 2022 Mega IPL Auction Avesh was bought by Lucknow Super Giants for a whooping amount of 10 crores.

After his breakthrough performance last year Avesh must have expected that many franchises will show interest in him, however, his previous franchise Delhi Capitals showed huge interest while fighting with Lucknow Super Giants for Avesh in the auction, but at the end, Lucknow Super Giants won the fight and bought Avesh Khan.

Avesh Khan said that Delhi Capitals captain Rishabh Pant hugged him and said “Sorry” for not being able to buy him back in the IPL Mega Auction.

After our flight landed in Kolkata, I met Rishabh outside and he held his arms wide open for giving me a hug.

He told me, ‘Sorry, le nahin paye’. Because, they weren’t left with a huge purse and had players to buy as well. When I watched the auction later, I saw that they did place a final bid for me at 8.75 cr, but Lucknow eventually bid the highest,” Avesh told Sportskeeda.

In the domestic circuit Avesh plays for Madhya Pradesh and has and has 100 wickets in 27 matches with an economy rate of 3.09. In his first-class career he has 6 four-wicket-hauls, 4 five-wicket hauls, and 1 ten-wicket haul.

The right-arm pacer also revealed that it was very emotional movement for him when he met Rishabh Pant in Kolkata “It was a very emotional moment with Rishabh; we have played Under-19 together, we always sit together after matches, hangout together,” Avesh reminisced..

Avesh might also make his international debut as he is in the 15 member squad for the T20i`s against West Indies, which will begin from 16 February’ 2022.

  “I would miss them [Ricky Ponting and Co] a lot because I had an emotional connect with the Delhi Capitals.”
