As the game began, Australia established a competitive 156 for 6 and then held the home team to 137 for 6 thanks to Beth Mooney‘s unbeaten 74 off 53 balls.
Mooney’s performance, which included nine boundaries and one over-the-fence hit, carried the Australian innings all by herself and proved to be the deciding factor.
While the hosts were chasing, opener Laura Wolvaardt (61 off 48 balls) played a heroic lone hand while the hosts’ wickets continued falling at the other end. Throughout her innings, Wolvaardt blasted three massive sixes and five boundaries.
