T20 World Cup 2024 SWOT Analysis – Australia Squad

The Australian cricket team will travel to the West Indies and the USA in a few days in the hope of winning their second T20 World Cup title. They are on the verge of winning all the major tournaments in a span of two years, as the Kangaroos are the current holders of the ICC World Test Championship as well as the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup. What do you think about their chances at the forthcoming T20 World Cup in 2024? Let’s find out by doing a SWOT analysis of their roster.

Strengths

From what we think, the biggest strength of this Australian team is their batting lineup. With a brilliant mix of experience and youth in their team, Australia probably has all the bases covered as far as batting is concerned, which could be a big headache for other teams in the tournament. Travis Head, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Glenn Maxwell, Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, and Tim David are one heck of a batting lineup. Add to this the never-say-die attitude of these players, and we could see some insane fireworks for them in the tournament.

Weaknesses

The biggest weakness of this team is their spin bowling. They only have two spinners in the team, Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar, and both of them have not played any international cricket for a long time now. On the spin-friendly pitches of the West Indies and the USA, this weakness could harm Australia’s chances in the tournament.

Opportunities

Opportunities are available for players such as Cameron Green to grab the chance with both hands and do something special for their nation. Another big opportunity is for captain Mitchell Marsh, who has the chance to prove himself as a captain in the shortest format while continuing to play the way he is known for.

Threats

They face a huge threat from the teams that play spin well in the 2024 T20 World Cup. Because they lack quality spin bowling, if one of their spinners goes for runs, the whole bowling attack could come under the pump, and the lack of having more spinners in the team could come back and bite them.
