Rafael Nadal defeated Novak Djokovic in straight sets to win 13th French Open. He is now tied with Roger Federer on 20 Grand Slam titles. It was a historic night for the Spaniard and he was in complete dominance right from word go and did not give the opponent a chance. Novak Djokovic was never able to stamp his authority and was tamed in 3 sets 6-0, 6-2, 7-5 by the king of clay.
Nadal did not drop a set throughout the tournament, which is a testimony to his undisputed dominance at Roland Garros. This was 4th consecutive French Open for Nadal and 13th in 15 appearances.

In 2018, Federer became first men’s player to win 20 grand slams by winning Australian Open by defeating Cilic. Federer has won six Australian Opens, one French Open, eight Wimbledon & five US Open. Nadal had won Australian Open once, Wimbledon twice and US Open four times. No singles player, male or female has won a grand slam more than Nadal (13 French Open). Margaret Court is at second place with 11 Australian Open victories. Martina Navratilova is third with 9 Wimbledon titles. Federer bad Djokovic is at 4th place with 8 Wimbledon Titles.
With this win, Nadal became the first player to win 100 matches at Roland Garros and has lost only two matches at French Open. He also became the first man to win 4 Grand Slams without losing a set. He was previously tied with Bjorn Borg. Both Nadal and Federer are four Grand Slams behind overall record holder Margaret Court who has won 24 times.
Serena Williams is second with 23 titles although her last title came in 2017 Australian Open. Serena had won the opening match of this year French Open but had to withdraw because of an injury. On Saturday night Iga Swiatek won the women’s final and did not drop a set like Nadal. This was the first time that both male mad female players had achieved the feat in the same year.
