“You Deserve It” : Roger Federer congratulates Rafael Nadal on 20th Grand Slam win

Federer-Nadal Australian open finals, Australia (2009)

Legendary Tennis Player Roger Federer congratulated Rafael Nadal on  equaling his record of 20th Grand Slam Title after the Spaniard defeated Djokovic to claim his 13th French Open title by 6-0,6-2,7-5 at Philippe Chartier Court on Sunday.

It was one sided game where Nadal didn’t gave any chance for Djokovic to bounce back as he was quick at his forehand as well as at backhand end.  Federer took to Twitter and congratulated Nadal for his remarkable achievement in detail as he wrote “I have always had the utmost respect for my friend Rafa as a person and as a champion. As my greatest rival over many years, I believe we have pushed each other to become better players,”.

“Therefore, it is a true honour for me to congratulate him on his 20th Grand Slam victory. It is especially amazing that he has now won Roland Garros an incredible 13 times, which is one of the greatest achievements in sport.

“I also congratulate his team, because nobody can do this alone. I hope 20 is just another step on the continuing journey for both of us. Well done, Rafa. You deserve it,”.

He was in sublime form during yesterday’s game against Djokovic as he didn’t lost a single set during the nail bitting encounter and dashed Djokovic’s hope of wining his 18th Grand Slam and becoming the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to win all four majors twice.

Federer did not compete in the tournament as he is still recovering from the two knee surgeries he has had this year. He has announced that he will return to the court next year, having also pulled out of the US Open earlier this year.

Nadal Supermacy during the match against Djokovic can be very well judged by the fact that he only committed 14 unforced errors as compare to Djokovic’s 52.
