MI Bowling coach Shane Bond slams the Rohit Sharma’s side for a “Childish” outing against LSG!

Mumbai Indians bowling coach Shane Bond was absolutely furious on his team’s bowling performance following their defeat to Lucknow Super Giants last night at the Ekana Stadium. The surface at Ekana is known for its slowness but LSG after batting first posted a total of 177 whereas the par score at the venue is not more than 150.

It goes without saying that Mumbai Indians did not execute their plans with the ball and conceded way too many runs and failed to pick up wickets in regular intervals. In fact, Mumbai Indians could only pick up 3 wickets in the form of Deepak Hooda, Quinton De Kock and Prerak Mankad.

From 35/3 in 6.1 overs, LSG through the efforts of Marcus Stoinis and Krunal Pandya rounded off with a brilliant 142-run partnership. The Big Australian smacked 89 off 47 while Pandya eventually was retired hurt for 49 off 42 balls.

As a result, MI’s bowling department proved to be very expensive. It was led by Jason Behrendorff who went for 30 runs by picking a wicket in his 4 overs while Jofra Archer’s replacement Chris Jordan had an economy rate of 12.50 in his 4 overs as he leaked a half-century of runs without taking a single wicket.

For Mumbai Indians bowling coach Shane Bond, the team’s performance with the ball was childish and each of them failed to execute the plans.

“For me, the most frustrating thing is about not sticking to the plans that we talk about. We were very clear with what we wanted to do on this wicket to players like Marcus (Stoinis) and where we wanted to bowl, we didn’t bowl there consistently enough.” – Bond said.

Bond also mentioned the fact that MI did give away runs for free to Marcus Stoinis by consistently bowling in the slot of the Aussie. “When you’re looking at a team plan, you’ve got to get the batsmen to hit in areas where you want them to hit. Make it as hard as possible for them. You don’t want them to hit you in areas that they want to hit.” – Shane Bond concluded.
