Shaun Tait calls out Dhoni to come and Bat for CSK instead of "just sitting in the dug out"!

During their match against inaugural IPL winners Rajasthan Royals on Thursday, 4-time winners Chennai Super Kings suffered a significant loss which kicked MS Dhoni’s team to third place in the standings. Thanks to the home team’s disciplined bowling effort, the Super Kings crashed out in front of them and were able to score as much as 170 runs.

Veteran pacer Sandeep Sharma, Ravichandran Ashwin and Aussie Leg-spinner Adam Zampa bowled super spells to win the reverse fixture by 32 runs and RR have made it 2-0 against CSK this year.

The Super Kings were left needing 79 runs from 31 deliveries as they attempted to chase down the enormous total when Moeen Ali claimed his fourth wicket of the innings for CSK. Ravindra Jadeja joined Shivam Dube in the middle as many had anticipated, but even though he did, the left-handed batsman failed to have the desired impact; Jadeja continued to go unbeaten on 23 off 15 deliveries.

Former Australian pacer Shaun Tait was absolutely clueless as to why MS Dhoni did not come out to bat when the asking run rate kept on getting higher.

“Watching MS (Dhoni) sit on the boundaries when they need sixes… I was like, ‘can someone get out?” Tait said after the game on ESPNCricinfo.

Indian cricket expert Deep Dasgupta gave his opinion saying – “There’s this fear factor when MS is batting. No matter whether he’s (on) 40 or 50, no matter how good a bowler you are, you’d still be thinking, ‘it’s MS who’s batting there’,” the former Indian cricketer said.

So far in the current edition of IPL, Dhoni has batted only 4 times at position eight. He has 61 runs scored and has only been out once. Furthermore, Dhoni has a strike rate of an astounding 196.77, which has many people perplexed as to why the CSK captain prefers to bat in the lower middle-order.
