IPL 2021: Who will win IPL 2021?

Who will win IPL 2021?

The Indian Premier League 2021 is all set to start on September 19th. The fifth test in Manchester was abandoned/postponed for a while as the coaching staff including Bharati Arun and Ravi Shastri tested positive for COVID-19 in the Lateral Flow test.

With the game getting postponed, multiple players have already flown down to the United Arab Emirates for the second phase of the cash-rich league. With teams poised to take on the second phase, we shall discuss the glaring question. That is, who will win IPL 2021?

Who will win IPL 2021?

At the end of the first phase, few teams displayed a detrimental grit whereas few teams are yet to get going in the league. As it stands, IPL 2020 finalists, Delhi Capitals are on top of the points table with them finishing an extra game. On the other hand, Chennai Super Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Mumbai Indians are vying for the top four spots and even the top two with seven games to go.

Rajasthan Royals and Punjab Kings are in near proximity to the top four but have not displayed any consistency that can help them to finish in the top four. Sunrisers Hyderabad, the usual underdogs, have not lived up to the hype. They find themselves in the last position. Kolkata Knight Riders also have not performed consistently and the captaincy change in the midst of the last campaign has not worked well for them yet.

Delhi Capitals

If the bottom four candidates are taken out of the equation, we have four teams that can win the IPL 2021. In the last few years, Delhi Capitals have contested and fared better than all the teams in the Indian Premier League but have choked in the last few campaigns. Despite that, the injured players are returning to the team and it will be happy news for the team management. They have the possibility to win the title in 2021.

Royal Challengers Bangalore are the second team that can actually have a go at the Indian Premier League title. They are the Chokers in the IPL, but this time, they look like serious contenders with the likes of Devdutt Padikkal, Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Glenn Maxwell hitting the stride. They also have match-winners in the bowling department and have contained the runs in IPL 2021.

Mumbai Indians

As far as Mumbai Indians are concerned, we cannot rule them out of the “Who will win IPL 2021” equation as they have commendable experience winning the tournament for the record five times. They will aim for the record sixth time but the change of venue and lack of match practice for their first-team players might make their life difficult. Mumbai Indians started slowly in the IPL 2021 when it was held in India but the tournament came to a halt when they had the momentum with them.

CSK-1

Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings are the underdogs amongst the top four teams. They have 10 points to their name and are looking to seal the top four spot with a win or two but their track record in the United Arab Emirates is not something that they can boast of. Last time, they finished last on the points table and the age of the players in the squad will determine a lot. The dry and humid weather has affected them in the past and the weather will remain the same. However, they also have a close chance to win the Indian Premier League in 2021.
