What is Coach Rahul Dravid’s next challenge for Shubman Gill?

Shubhman Gill

Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Team India, has thrown a fresh challenge to Shubman Gill, telling him to “outbat Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli” in the upcoming games. Dravid advised Shubman Gill, “Don’t leave till you’ve outbatted them both; that would be wonderful for the team and you as well.”

As Gill bats in the top order beside two absolute legends in Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Dravid explained this to Gill how it will benefit him in the future.

“One of the things that is fantastic for you is that you get to bat with two absolute superstars of the game, people who have played more than 250 ODIs, when you bat in this format specifically. When Rohit exits the room while you are still starting with him, Virat enters. A young man like you has a fantastic opportunity to pick their brains and learn how to play this format, Dravid added.

To bat with these guys is incredible. I’ve grown up adoring them as I’ve watched them. Performing in front of hundreds of people at a time, I used to wonder how they manage it. How can they maintain their level of performance year after year, and it’s amazing to be able to bat alongside them and learn from them while I’m out there batting.

When Rohit Bhai and I were batting today, Daryl Mitchell, who was bowling, remarked that this man seemed like one of the bowlers who might get me out, but I would still go after him, I remember thinking that he was probably in the 70s and 80s. When I was batting with Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, I adopted these great players’ mindsets, Gill stated.

Gill just set a new record for fastest Indian cricketer to 1000 ODI runs and second-fastest hitter overall.
