This is the most expensive spell till date. The Indian fast bowler conceded a total of 70 runs in the 4 overs of his spell. The record came in 2018 season of the Indian Premier League when Sunrisers was taking on the RCB. Thampi’s spell is the most expensive spell till today in the IPL history.
Yash Dayal – 69 runs [4 Overs]
The second most expensive spell came this season of the league when Rinku Singh smacked super solid 5 consecutive sixes to Yash Dayal in the 20th over of the match. Dayal became the second most extravagant bowler who conceded 69 runs in the spell of 4 overs. Dayal has good record as a bowler in domestic cricket, but Rinku Singh did the unthinkable, collecting 31 runs from his last over. It was the highest as per records.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman – 66 runs [4 Overs]
The third most costly spell in tournament history was likewise given away by Mujeeb. In the 2019 IPL, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, a player for Kings XI Punjab, took a beating left, right, and centre. Ishant’s final over turned out to be the most costly one as he allowed 25 runs after receiving four fours and a six from Raina.
Umesh Yadav – 65 Runs [4 Overs]
Umesh Yadav is ranked in the list of the fifth most costly spells in IPL history, Umesh Yadav let up 65 runs in his four allotted overs in the second game of the 2013 tournament. His first two overs saw him give up 18 runs. He did, however, take a beating from Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers over his final two overs. In his third and fourth overs, respectively, Umesh Yadav allowed runs of 23 and 24, respectively.
