Winning the World Test Championship is like getting a World Cup for me: Ishant Sharma

India and England will be locking horns against each other in an upcoming third Test match which is scheduled on Feb 24^th, 2021.

Both teams are currently poised at 1-1 out of four-match series and they both need to win their upcoming match to stay in contention of becoming another finalist who will be playing against New Zealand on 18^th June 2021 at Lords.

Indian fast bowler Ishant Sharma recently said on the eve of playing third Test match against England that wining World Test championship for me is like winning World Cup for me.

Ishant further added that he plays just one format of the game now, and the WTC is like a World Cup for him. He also stated that if India manages to win the WTC, it would give him the same happiness equivalent of winning a World Cup or the Champions Trophy for his country.

“There is only one thing on my mind right now, and that is how to win this series and qualify ourselves for the World Test Championship final. I play only one format for India and World Test Championship is like a World Cup for me. So if we are able to reach the final and win it then I will surely feel the same that a team feels on winning the ICC World Cup or the Champions Trophy,” said Ishant in a video conference.

India and England will have to meet certain parameters in order to qualify for the World Test Championship final.
