Yash Dayal Biography: Yash Dayal is one of the budding pacers hailing from Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. The 25-year-old is a left handed fast bowler and has broken through the Indian Premier League setup in the previous season. He has represented the likes of Uttar Pradesh state team and Gujarat Titans in a short career spanning five years. He is one of the emerging pacers to watch out for.

Early Life & Journey:

Yash Dayal was born on 15 December 1997 in Prayagraj/Allahabad, Uttar Pradesh. Like every other Indian kid, Yash had a dream to play cricket and represent India. However, the family situation was not conducive. Despite the odds, the player kept his pursuit.

Starting his cricket training at the age of eight, Yash Dayal had a tough start. He was not able to make it to any of the junior sides like U13, U15, U16,and U19. This started planting a doubt in the player’s mind about his future. However, he kept his efforts going.

The 25-year old had to make a decision while he was in tenth standard to either choose academics or cricket. He chose cricket and was able to prove his point. Yash Dayal got a chance to represent his state side in 2018 and there was no looking back since then. He went onto bag his first ever Indian Premier League contract in 2022 when Gujarat Titans roped him for 3.2 crores.

His fine performances in the Indian Premier League 2022 got him through the national team doors. He was selected as a backup player during the COVID for the series against West Indies. Though he was not able to travel with the squad, his dream to travel with the national team came true when he was called up for the national team in November 2022 for the series against Bangladesh. Though he could not make his debut for India during that series, he will look forward to claim the national cap with a stupendous performance in IPL 2023. If he is successful in representing India, he will be the second left-arm fast bowler to represent India from Uttar Pradesh.

Yash Dayal made his debut for Uttar Pradesh in Vijay Hazare Trophy in September 2018. Though he got to pitch while batting, he did not have much to do. Though Uttar Pradesh failed to win the game, he had picked a wicket in nine overs he bowled. In List A cricket, Yash Dayal has scalped 23 wickets at an economy of 4.49 and a strike rate of 31.

Following his impressive form in the Vijay Hazare Trophy, Yash Dayal was called up for the state team to represent them in the Ranji Trophy. Yash Dayal made his Ranji debut against Goa in Kanpur in November 2018. He picked two wickets on his debut to assist his side dismantle Goa in their first innings. The longest format of the game is what brought him the fame. Yash Dayal has 58 wickets in 32 innings at an economy of 3.05. His best bowling figure is 5/48 in Ranji Trophy.

Following this performance, Uttar Pradesh named him for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and he fared great there as well. He picked a wicket in his four overs while conceding just 17 runs. In the T20 format, he has 29 wickets from 30 games at an economy of 7.67.
