Sri Lanka Won Their First ODI Series in the Last 4 YearsSri Lanka registered an emphatic victory over Bangladesh by 7 wickets in the second ODI. Sri Lanka is now 2-0 up with one game to spare, and thus, have already won the series, ending their four-year drought. They hadn’t won an ODI series in the last 4 years, with their last ODI series win coming against Ireland in Ireland (2-0) in 2016.

It was not just a match, but breaking the Ice moment for Sri Lanka as after the retirement of old warhorses like Kumar Sangakara and Mahela Jayawardene, Sri Lankan team were devoid of leaders and looked in disarray, fighting to regain the lost glory.

The series in every sense was historic. It not only injected adrenaline in Sri Lankan cricket but resurrected the career of many players.

During the play, Mushfiqur Rahim completed 6000 ODI runs, becoming the 3rd Bangladeshi player to score 6000 ODI runs after Tamim Iqbal (6890 runs) and Sakib Al Hasan ( 6323 runs).

Akila Dhananjaya completed 50 wickets in ODI cricket:
Akila Dhananjaya completed 50 wickets in 35 ODI’s becoming the fifth-fastest bowler and second fastest spinner after Ajanta Mendis, who took 19 matches to achieve the amazing feat.

Mushfiqur Rahim- The lone warrior:
Mushfique Rahim 98 not out is the second individual highest score for Bangladesh. Rest of the 10 players got out under 20. Shakib Al Hasan holds the record of scoring 108 runs in 2008 Multan ODI against Pakistan, where rest of the batters were dismissed below 20.
