Mushfiqur Rahim creates history even after failing to score runs
The third day of the first Test match between India and Bangladesh at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai concluded with a significant milestone for veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim. Despite failing to make a significant impact in the second innings, Rahim achieved a remarkable feat.
In his brief innings of 11 balls, Rahim scored 13 runs, surpassing Tamim Iqbal to become the highest-scoring batsman for Bangladesh in international cricket. Rahim has now amassed 15,205 runs in 514 innings of 464 international matches, averaging 34.47 and maintaining a strike rate of 65.23.

Struggles in the First Innings
While Rahim’s second innings was brief, his performance in the first innings was even more limited. He scored only 8 runs off 14 balls before being caught by KL Rahul off the bowling of Jasprit Bumrah.
Overall, Rahim’s test match record is impressive, with an average of 39.01 in 166 innings of 90 matches. He has scored 5,892 runs at a strike rate of 48.25, including 27 half-centuries and 11 centuries. His highest score is an unbeaten 219 runs.
