The 31-year-old expressed his delight ahead of his 100th FC match via Twitter –
On the eve of my 100th first-class game, I want to take a moment and reflect on this journey which has been filled with emotions, passion & pride!
I remember the moment when i made my first-class debut vividly. I had injured my bowling finger a day before the game.. pic.twitter.com/lUHoxubNeL

Unadkat has had an illustrious career in the domestic circuit. He has notched more than 350 wickets, 370 to be precise since his debut in 2010. Although he has not able to replicate the same while playing for the Indian national team, which is one of the reasons why we seem him play for India on rare occasions.

If we talk about Test cricket, then it is hard to believe that Jaydev Unadkat has featured only twice for India and his only 2 appearances had a gap of 12 years. The 31-year-old made his senior debut against South Africa during the first match of the 2010 Test series at Centurion.
India had lost that match by an Innings and 25 runs with Unadkat failing to pick up a single wicket. Fast forward to December 2022, the Left-arm pacer earned only his 2nd International cap during Bangladesh and India’s 2nd Test at Mirpur and this time he took 3 wickets.

He has shown immense promise in the past but his inconsistency saw him getting over-looked by the BCCI. In fact, it was just a few weeks ago during Saurashtra’s clash against Delhi when Jaydev Unadkat took a first-over hat trick – which was never done before in the history of Ranji Trophy.

It’s hard to say if his peak years are behind him or ahead of him because his latest performances made BCCI include him for the Border-Gavaskar trophy scheduled to begin from 9th February. Nonetheless, as fond supporters of the game, we wish Jaydev Unadkat to have a successful career ahead of him.
Do you think he is a product of neglection or has the BCCI done justice to him?
