Pakistan team is going through ups and downs especially after their prime fast bowler Mohammad Amir recently bid adieu to International cricket and claimed in an interview that he doesn’t see himself playing under the current management. He added that he was constantly targeted from the moment he retired from Test cricket to focus on White Ball cricket. As Pakistan defeated Kiwis in the last match of the three-match T20 series but host claimed the series against the visitors by 2-1.

Now Men in Green will be playing two matches Test series against New Zealand under the captaincy of Mohammad Rizwan as their regular skipper Babar Azam is not fit to play the first test match due to Thumb Injury. However, Pakistan’s bowling coach Waqar Younis will be heading back to Pakistan ahead of the 2nd test starting from January 3rd in Christchurch. Younis has been granted permission by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to fly back home to spend some quality time with his family which is evident too as Younis had not spent time with his family since July 2020 as he is constantly traveling with the Pakistan team on different tours.

PCB revealed a statement confirming that bowling coach Waqar Younis will be on leave ahead of the 2nd Test. “Waqar had requested the team management to be granted leave so that he can spend additional time with his immediate family, which will be in Lahore before returning to Sydney, Australia, on 17 January,” PCB said in a media release.

The statement was followed by another statement from team manager Mansoor Rana who added that families come first and its absolutely fine that officials take breaks to maintain an adequate work-life balance. Also as per the latest report, he might get leave till the South African tour which will run till February 14th, 2021 to spend some time with his family and children.

“Considering Waqar has not seen his family since June and that our home series against South Africa, which follows the series against New Zealand, doesn’t finish until 14 February, we … have allowed him to return home early so that he can spend additional time with his wife and children,” Pakistan manager Mansoor Rana said.
