Before Covid-19 Pandemic grappled the world, things were running smoothly and KL Rahul was in a red hot form. The Indian batsman was scoring a plethora of runs, both in ODIs and T20s. However, things have changed much, since. Indian cricketers haven’t played a single game since New Zealand tour in March.
KL Rahul, who was in a great-run at that time, believes that his form now holds no value as everyone is starting fresh after having a seven month sabbatical from cricket.
“Firstly, I think we are starting fresh. I don’t think what has happened seven months prior will matter now. We are all coming into the tournament with not [having played] a lot of cricket. So, I am not sure if my batting form is going to be the same as it was seven months ago.” KL Rahul told IANS.
Contrary to other cricketers, KL Rahul accepted that the players would be nervous as they would straightway hit the ground in a tournament as big as IPL.
“And in a tournament like IPL which is huge, I would be lying if I say all of us are not nervous at all. We are, but that’s the challenge of sport. No one expected this to happen,” he further added
KL Rahul has been made the new captain of Kings Eleven Punjab ahead of IPL 2020. It will be the first time when he will be leading a franchise for a complete season in IPL. KL Rahul had an outstanding season last season. He was the second-highest run-getter in that season, scoring 593 runs in 14 matches at an average of 53.90.
