Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey Requesting NOCs from DDCA as they aim to transition to different domestic teams
The turmoil within Delhi cricket continues as Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey, two of their most promising batsmen, are now considering a transition to different domestic teams. Seeking a new direction for their careers, both players have formally requested the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) to grant them a No Objection Certificate (NOC) that would facilitate their move to other teams ahead of the forthcoming domestic season.

Rana and Shorey have expressed their dissatisfaction with the trajectory of their careers, largely influenced by Delhi’s recent lackluster performance on the domestic circuit. Behind-the-scenes conflicts involving changes in leadership, team selections (even at junior levels), and other issues have contributed to the unsettling atmosphere.
During the 2022-23 season, Delhi’s Ranji Trophy campaign concluded with a sixth-place finish in the Elite B Group. Nitish Rana experienced a season of fluctuating selections and ultimately chose not to participate in the match against Hyderabad.
A reliable source closely associated with the developments shared insights with CricketNext, stating, “Following the conclusion of the last season, Nitish Rana was exploring alternate options. His discontent stemmed from being dropped midway through the season and he began actively looking for opportunities elsewhere. While he did return for a game against Mumbai, he subsequently made himself unavailable for the match against Hyderabad.”
Meanwhile, Dhruv Shorey, known for his representation of the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL, is also contemplating his future due to his dissatisfaction with the opportunities he has received in white-ball cricket with Delhi. His recent appearance in the Duleep Trophy saw him scoring a century against the North East Zone.
“In Dhruv’s case, he was considered a valuable asset for red-ball cricket with Delhi but was dissatisfied with his chances in the shorter formats. He remains keen on pursuing white-ball cricket,” the source added.
Parallel to Rana’s experiences in red-ball cricket, Shorey has faced inconsistent team placements in limited-overs competitions such as the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The current circumstances underline the ongoing challenges within Delhi cricket, as the desire for better opportunities leads these talented players to seek new avenues for their careers in the realm of Indian domestic cricket.
Nitish Rana and Dhruv Shorey have secured spots in Delhi’s squad
Both Rana and Shorey have been enlisted in Delhi’s roster for the forthcoming Buchi Babu tournament, a competition arranged by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). This tournament marks its revival after a hiatus of six years and will encompass a total of 12 teams, all competing in the red-ball format over a duration of four days.
Recognized as key figures within the team, Rana and Shorey are looked upon as senior players and leaders. Their formal request for No Objection Certificates (NOCs) has surfaced just a day prior to the team’s scheduled departure for Tamil Nadu, a development that raises concerns about the team’s unity.
The Buchi Babu tournament is scheduled to span from August 15 to September 11. Delhi has been grouped with Mumbai and Jammu & Kashmir in Group C, shaping up an intriguing contest ahead.
