Kohli shows Klaasen, who is the real King at Hyderabad!

Indian batting ace Virat Kohli was at his very best last night as he smacked his 6th IPL century against Sunrisers Hyderabad away at the Rajiv Gandhi International stadium. The chase master clapped back at his critics in an emphatic manner as he led the foundation to give RCB 2 very important points.

The victory meant that Royal Challengers Bangalore replaced Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians from the 4th position. Both MI and RCB have equal points but the former team is ahead because of a better net run rate of +0.180 whereas Mumbai have -0.128.

The stage is perfectly set for Bangalore for their final league fixture against reigning champions Gujarat Titans. Each and every team now have 1 match to play and RCB have a must win game in their hands this Sunday. One of the good news for them has been the comeback of Virat Kohli’s ruthless and aggressive form.

Earlier this season, question marks were being raised about his strike rate being slow but last night Kohli batted at a strike rate of 158.73 as he led by example in a tense 187-run chase. After winning the toss, RCB asked the Sunrisers to Bat first.

SRH lost both of their openers by the 3rd ball of the 5th over as they were 28/2. Captain Aiden Markram and Wicket-keeper Heinrich Klaasen went on to take the charge and stood together until the hosts reached the 100-run mark. However, Markram departed soon for 18 off 10 but Klaasen was adamant to show his class.

The South African did a lot of damage to RCB as he got out after scoring 104 off 51 deliveries and towards the end, Harry Brook, this season’s first centurion added 27 runs off 19.

In response, Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plesis came out and went all guns blazing. The Indo-Proteas duo kept SRH away from the game as they stood for a 172-run partnership to seal half of the victory. While Faf Du Plesis departed for 71 off 47, King Kohli scored his first IPL century since 2019.
