Indian Boxing has certainly have potential, to make it big in International Sporting Community and credit should be given to all infrastructural changes, which is bearing fruit at the moment.
There is lot of huddles when it comes to selecting Presidential post in Boxing Federation of India(BFI) and still things are under discussion, when will new elections held.
The latest star born from this crisis is none other than Hitesh Gulia who is currently 20 year old, and went on to win Gold Medal at Foz Do Iguacu, Brazil.
The tournament was organized under World Boxing Federation(WBF) who organized this tournament under their umbrella and Gulia went on to win title under his steward leadership.
He bagged medal in 70Kg division after his opponent, where he defeated his opponent England Odel Kamara withrew due to injury.

After winning the medal, He gave special credit to Indian Navy where he stated that “I owe my entire career to Indian Navy talent scout squad Suranjoy Singh- who gave Hitesh an opportunity to pursue his boxing dreams, that job gave him financial security and helped him to sustain his family needs.
However his story is worth inspiring as his father back in the days were the only earning member of the family in family of four children which include- two daughters and 2 sons where he was youngest of the lot.
Father used to work as Farmer and Driver later in a private company so when the pandemic hit , it was difficult for family to survive financially also during pandemic- he developed a knee surgery where the actual cost of treatment 2.5 Lakh.
We couldn’t have afforded that amount as family instead of I thought of taking retirement from the Sport, but magic happened in 2022 when he was training at SAI Bhiwani where Suranjoy Singh who potentially identified talent in me and offered me Sailor post with monthly stipend of 9,000 INR post then everything was changed for him as player along with his professional life.
He is an inspiration for several athletes to keep following your passion despite all odds in life.
