Boxing Federation of India Elections Controversy 2025: No More Elections now due to Legal Hurdles
In last 7-10 days, so much has happened in Boxing Federation of India, it seems complete fiasco at the moment.
Due to Legal Hurdles after disgruntled member state associations, approached courts and eventually Court decided to not held election for now in terms of power position in Boxing Federation of India.
The decision will be taken by Returning Officer (RO) R K Gauba as the elections were supposed to be held on 28th March 2025 in Gurugram.
Gauba said while talking to distinct media outlets where he said that decision have been taken by talking with Current President Ajay Singh where all legal hurdles at the moment have been talked about.
“The President of the BFI has communicated …since these orders have the potential to disrupt the ongoing electoral process/schedule, we are taking steps to approach courts for urgent intervention. Therefore its is requested that further orders be awaited before the conflicting before the conficting orders of the high courts are acted upon” Gauba said.
However he added, that election process will be hold would remain paused till the time all the steps are taken correctly in response to court orders.
On March 7th 2025, Delhi High Court stayed the directive which was filled by Incumbent President Ajay Singh where he stated “Only duly elected members of BFI affliated units are allowed to vote in the Upcoming elections”
On the other end, Court ruled on the petition filled by Delhi Amateur Boxing Association (DABA) which paved the way to some of the officials like- Rohit Jainendra Jain and Neeraj Kant Bhatt to vote in BFI elections.
However, another update came from Himachal Pradesh Court where they granted permission to Senior BJP Leader Anurag Singh Thakur to contest election and directives was passed on RK Gauba to include Thakur’s name as the representatives of Himachal Pradesh Boxing Representatives.
It is also learned that Maharastra State Boxing Association has also written petition to Bombay High Court to stay BFI elections.
With so much happening at administrative level for one election imagine what’s happening with Players and how can we expect them to churn medals for India in Olympics with so much fiasco at the moment.
