“I don’t listen to what anyone says”, Virat Kohli after equaling Chris Gayle’s record for most IPL centuries!

Royal Challengers Bangalore opener Virat Kohli shut down a lot of criticism against him as he smacked his first IPL century since 2019. He arrived in prime form just in time for the RCB as they aim to book the tickets for IPL play-offs for the 2nd season in a row.

In order to remain in the Top 4, RCB have no choice but to beat defending champions Gujarat Titans and the victory last night against Sunrisers Hyderabad must have given them a lot of confidence.

But the entire talking point after last night’s match is Virat Kohli. The 34-year-old shrugged off plenty of criticism around his strike rate as he batted the entire evening at a strike rate of 158.73. Pairing alongside Faf Du Plesis, Kohli has taken his inning to a different level this year.

For the first time in 4 years, Kohli has scored more than 400 runs in IPL and he still has one more game to play. Moreover, Kohli has reached the 500-run mark for the first time since 2018 when he ended up 530 runs. This year he has already amassed 538 runs in 13 appearances, averaging 44.83 per innings.

Yesterday he equalized Chris Gayle’s tally of most centuries in IPL as it was Kohli’s 6th century in the toughest T20 league in the world. When he was asked about expressing his feelings about this record equaling Century Kohli said – “I never look at past numbers. I put myself under so much stress already.  Was telling the boys – the way I’m looked at as an IPL player as well is like ‘yeah, he’s fine, few impact knocks’. It’s my 6th IPL hundred. I don’t give myself enough credit sometimes because I put myself under so much stress already. I don’t care what anyone says on the outside.”
