Cricket fraternity mourns the demise of spin great Rajinder Goel

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly, Indian head coach Ravi Shastri and several other cricketers expressed their sincere condolences to left-arm Spin wizard Rajinder Goel who recently passed away at the age of 77 after battling with Illness.

Indian head coach, Ravi Shastri wrote on his official Twitter handle “RIP #RajinderGoel Ji. Master of his craft. Killer line & length in our terrain. Humility personified. Condolences to the entire family”.

Indian Batting Stalwart Virender Sehwag also expressed his sincere gratitude to the master bowler,

“A very simple, humble man. Highest wicket-taker in his last first-class season. 750 First-class wickets but never played for India. Was India’s loss. Rajinder Goel ji ko vinamra Shraddhanjali. Om Shanti”.

Another Indian Spinning wizard Bishan Singh laid his tribute to the former cricketer where he mentioned the command over the bowling craft that later had,

“ Rajinder Goel was easily the most ‘contented’ human being I’ve known…I used to envy his sense of ‘contentment’ in my moments of turmoil.RIP ‘Goely’.You bowled your heart out to keep Ranji Trophy alive..!!

Someone who has seen Indian Cricket close to three decades now, also known as the voice of Cricket, Mr Harsha Bhogle also mourned the death of the legendary first-class cricketer as he posted: 

“Very sad to hear that a giant of Indian cricket, Rajinder Goel, has passed away. Champion bowler.”  

Taking about Rajinder Goel’s stats, he played 157 first-class matches, most of them for Harayana and finished his first-class cricket with 750 wickets. He also holds a record for maximum wickets taken in Ranji Trophy, claiming 637 wickets. He played domestic cricket till the age of 44.
