Cricketer turned commentator, Dean Jones passed away on Thursday due to a massive cardiac arrest. He was a part of the commentary panel for the ongoing 2020 edition of Indian Premier League. At 59, he breathed his last while staying in the bio-secure bubble in a seven-star hotel in Mumbai.
Indian team head coach, Ravi Shastri expressed his condolence over Dean Jones’ demise, on his Twitter handle.
“Really shocking to lose a colleague and a dear friend – Dean Jones. Gone so young. Condolences to the family and may his soul rest in peace #RIPDeanJones”, he tweeted.
While talking to TOI, Shastri called Dean Jones as the one best one-day players the world has ever seen. He described him as a cricketer who was ahead of his time while praising him for his excellent running between the wickets.

Dean Jones is counted amongst the best one-day players of all time. Jones represented Australia in 54 Test matches and 164 ODIs, scoring 3631 and 6068 runs respectively. He has 11 centuries in Test Cricket and 7 centuries in one-day cricket to his name.
Other cricketers such as Virat Kohli, Virender Sehwag, Harsha Bhogle etc also took to Twitter to express their condolences over the Australian cricketer’s shocking demise.“
