BCCI Selection Committee Fiasco: Board Invites Two Fresh Application for the Post After Asia Cup Squad Announcement

The Board of Control for Cricket in India, have invited fresh applications for two post in the Current selection committee headed by Ajit Agarkar.

Many people have predicted that the new joinee would replace Ajit Agarkar based on further dwelling into reports, It won’t be Agarkar but Shiv Sundar Das and Banerjee who have already completed their 4 years would be replaced and Pragyan Ojha is likely to be part of Selection Panel.

Recently Ajit Agarkar led team have announced Indian Squad for Asia Cup and two notable omissions in the form of Shreyas Iyer and Yashasvi Jaiswal not being part of the Squad have raised several questions that on what basis Shubhman  Gill have been accomodated in Indian team and even appointed as new Vice Captain instead someone who is in good form in T20I format should be given consistent chances.

On being asked why Iyer is Not part of India’s Squad? On which Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar said ” See there is no fault of his(Iyer) Neither for us we can’t accommodate him at the moment”

Other person close to BCCI said while talking to distinct media outlets where he said ” You can’t pick Iyer for the sack of picking him, He is in good form and if you are picking in the squad he should be ideally playing X1 rather than been part of extra 5 players”

Iyer father also said while talking to distinct media outlets “He is disappointed for sure and he can’t do much more, he deserve chance in Indian team”

The other interesting observations came from Abhisekh Nayar, Former Indian team Assistant Coach where he said ” I feel difficult to understand, why someone like Iyer is not being part of Indian team in T20I format for Asia Cup what else he could do, If he is not part of India’s 20 player squad that means he is not even in your scheme of things when it comes to seeking India’s T20I format”

To an extent I agree to his statement  if they have to accommodate someone they will induct someone no matter what and the latest example is Gill, How he got selected ? He wasn’t member of Indian team in T20I format in hindsight BCCI need some face in order to build brand and he is seen as perfect replacement to Virat Kohli.

On Shubhman Gill Question, Selector Ajit Agarkar said “We are even surprised how well Gill captained India in the recently concluded series against England he has surpassed all our expectations”

After handling Test Captaincy brilliantly he is the next big thing for Indian Cricket considering all Kind of shots in his arsenal and his tactical decision in Test cricket would help him to grow further in other formats.
