Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2023 : Ravindra Jadeja reveals story behind injury ahead of his comeback

As India takes on Australia in a four-match Test series beginning on February 9, Ravindra Jadeja is ready to return from injury. The all-rounder, who has been sidelined since the T20 World Cup 2022, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to once again represent Team India after suffering a knee injury that could have ended his career. He was out of commission for more than five months, but given that the first Test is being played in Nagpur, he could end up being quite important in determining the outcome for the home team.

I’m overjoyed and thrilled to be able to don the Indian shirt once more after nearly five months. I consider it a blessing that I was given the chance to come here again, yet the voyage there was not without its ups and downs. Because not playing cricket for five months may be incredibly irritating, he said in an interview with BCCI.tv, “I was definitely eagerly hoping to get fit as soon as possible so that I can go play for India.

Jadeja admitted that it was tough for him to decide whether to have surgery before the World Cup or after it, but in the end, he followed the doctor’s advice.

“I had a knee issue that required surgery sooner or later. But I had to choose whether to have it now or wait until after the World Cup. The doctor also suggested that I had it done before the World Cup because my chances of playing in it were already slim. I therefore decided to have the procedure.” However, he claimed that even though the time following the operation was extremely challenging, the incentive of once again donning the India shirt kept him going.

Because you had to conduct rehab and training on a constant basis following the operation, the recovery time was rather challenging. You were considering your physical conditioning. When I watched the World Cup matches on television, I wished I could have been there.

Regarding the post-surgery healing time, he added, “These little things inspire you to speed up the recovery process.”

My knee received extensive work from the trainers and physios at the NCA. They would visit and give me special treatment even on Sundays when the NCA was closed. I couldn’t travel anyplace and couldn’t walk properly for two months, which made them really difficult.

My family and friends supported me during that really important period. The NCA trainers helped me become more confident. Jadeja just last month played for Saurashtra versus Tamil Nadu in a Ranji Trophy match in Chennai, successfully making his comeback to the sport.

Since I hadn’t been outside in the sun for five months, I felt a little uncomfortable. I was exercising indoors, so when I got to the middle I wondered if my body could continue.

“The first day was quite difficult, and the heat in Chennai is well known. I felt good and fit when my body adjusted to the environment, he remarked.
