Australia opener David Warner joins an elite list after scoring 200 in his 100th Test appearance

After a gap of 3 years without scoring a century, Australian Opener David Warner ended a 3-year drought by smashing a sensational double hundred against South Africa on day 2 of their second test match at MCG. It will be a day to remember for the Aussie ace as he amassed 200 runs in his 100th Test cap for the Baggy Greens.

It took him just 144 deliveries to reach triple figures and Warner is now only the 10th Batsman in the history to score a double ton in his 100th match. Warner scored his 25th Test century and 3rd Double hundred to become only the second batter after former Captain Ricky Ponting to do so.

After getting to his 3rd Double ton, the “Pocket Size Dynamite” joined English batter Joe Root to score 200 runs in 100th test cap. Warner scored 200 off just 254 balls. Day 2 proved to be an eventful day for Warner as he also reached 8000 test runs in the first session of the day.

He scored 8000 runs with an average of 46. However, Warner suffered a cramp and was taken off the field after his body have up. Cameron Green came on as his replacement but he was also retired hurt after after facing just 20 balls.

But thanks to the knock by Warner, Australia ended Day 2 with a lead of 197 runs. The Aussies are currently 386/3 with Alex Carey and Travis Head on the pitch. Australia are favorites to come out on top in the second test and South Africa need to cope up on Day 3.
