Cameron Green Biography : Early Days

Cameron Green was born on 3 June 1999 at Subiaco, Perth to parents Gary Green and Bee Tracey. At 10-years of age, he began his cricketing journey with Subiaco-Floreat Cricket Club’s U-13’s in 2009/10 season. His performances and pacey development saw him earn a contract from WACA and he made his first class debut at the age of 17.

He made his List A debut for Cricket Australia XI against Pakistan at home soil on January 2017. Before that he was handed a rookie contract by the Western Australian Cricket Association for his stats of 82 runs per innings and taking 20 wickets in 8 games. Green had figures of 5/24 f Western Australia on his first class debut against Tasmania on February 2017 in the 2016/17 Sheffield Shield Season.

His 5-wicket haul saw him become the youngest player ever to notch 5 wickets in Sheffield Shield season. Cameron Green made his debut in the Big Bash League in the 2018-19 season on January 13. He was mainly selected for his bowling and ability to ball fast out-swingers. However, that feature of his was plagued due to a number of injuries.

Green spent the 2018 winter at Cricket Australia’s National Performance Center in Brisbane and did not participate in any first-class cricket in the 2017–18 season. After a second stress fracture in his lower back prompted him to cease bowling in 2019–20, his game improved significantly.

Cameron Green scored 87 and 121 to force an astonishing draw against Queensland at the Gabba, marking his first-ever first-class century. Before posting a career-best 197 from 438 balls against New South Wales in October 2020, he would score two other hundreds that summer.

Green was picked to Australia’s squad for the limited overs matches against India in October 2020. He was also picked to Australia’s Test team for the November 2020 matches against India. Green made his Australia One Day International (ODI) debut against India on December 2, 2020. Green got a century for Australia A in a warm-up match before the Test series. He made his Test debut for Australia against India on December 17, 2020.
