Afghanistan Cricket Board sack CEO Lutfullah Stanikzai

The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) on Tuesday sacked the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Lutfullah Stanikzai for “mismanagement”, “unsatisfactory performance,” and “misbehaviour with managers.”

He had a three-year contract with Afghanistan Cricket Board and was appointed in July last year. He was immediately appointed by Afghanistan poor performance in 2019 World Cup in England where they failed to win a single match especially playing close matches against India and Pakistan.

“This is to inform you that this letter serves as confirmation that your employment contract in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Afghanistan Cricket Board is terminated effectively. Your last employment date with ACB is July 29, 2020,” ACB chairman Farhan Yusefzai said in a letter to Stanikzai on Monday.

“The reasons for your contract termination is as below: Mismanagement, unsatisfactory performance, misbehaviour with managers.”

He also advised Stanikzai to submit all the documents and equipment before 29th July 2020.

One of the officials in ACB board confirmed it by saying that Stanikzai was earlier issued “verbal and written warnings”

There have been rumours that Inamullah Shirzad could replace Stanikzai as the new CEO of the Board, however, no such statement has been issued by the Board.

The Board also dissolved the contracts of former domestic manager Hasti Gul Abed, following the forgery of the essential documents during the Ghazi Amanullah Khan List-A tournament in 2018. Even Abed confessed to the allegations charged against him.
