Afghanistan Cricket Board slams critics who were raising fingers on BCCI for organizing matches in Greater Noida for NZ Test

In a surprising turn of events, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) recently expressed its support for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) through an official statement shared on their social media platforms. The ACB took the opportunity to clarify the details surrounding the current situation, especially the ongoing discussion about venue choices and rain-affected matches.

According to the statement, the BCCI had provided Afghanistan with three venue options: Dehradun, Lucknow, and Greater Noida. After careful consideration, the Afghanistan Cricket Board decided to select Greater Noida. The primary reason for this choice was that both Dehradun and Lucknow were occupied with India’s domestic cricket season, making those venues unavailable for international matches. The ACB noted that Greater Noida was the most practical option under the given circumstances.

The ACB also highlighted that the recent weather-related disruptions, such as rain and wet outfields, are entirely beyond anyone’s control. They emphasized that no one, including the BCCI, could predict or prevent such events. Despite these uncontrollable factors, the BCCI made efforts to support Afghanistan’s matches by enhancing drainage facilities at the selected venues, ensuring that everything within their power was done to facilitate the games.

Additionally, the ACB explained why they chose not to host the matches in the UAE. The extremely hot and humid conditions in the region made it less desirable as a venue, as it could affect the players’ performance and overall match quality.

In light of these clarifications, the ACB firmly stated that the BCCI should not be blamed for any disruptions caused by weather conditions. They reiterated that the Indian board has done everything possible to accommodate Afghanistan’s needs. With this statement, the speculations that the BCCI was not fully supportive of the Afghanistan Cricket Board were put to rest, especially following the rain-affected match between Afghanistan and New Zealand, which was delayed due to the wet outfield.
