A Champion in League of Legends Excels in the Jungle but Struggles in the Top Lane

League of Legends

In the world of League of Legends, some champions can take on different roles in the game. They can do this because their abilities make them suitable for different positions on the map. But in Patch 13.19, there’s a champion named Briar who stands out.

Briar is a new addition to the game, and when it comes to jungling (a specific role in the game), she’s one of the best. Her win rate in the jungle is really high, sitting at fifth place with a 51.58 percent win rate according to U.GG, a League of Legends statistics website.

However, when it comes to playing Briar in the top lane (another position on the map), things don’t go as well. She’s actually the second-worst top laner in terms of win rate, with only 45.34 percent success. She’s only doing better than one other champion in this category, K’Sante.

When we take a closer look at Briar’s abilities, it’s not surprising that she’s a great choice for the jungle role in League of Legends. Her kit allows her to dive into fights with a lot of power. She deals a lot of damage, uses her health as a resource for her abilities, and can quickly close gaps between her and her targets. This makes her an excellent choice for junglers who like to make frequent ganks. Additionally, if she manages to get some early kills, her potential in the mid-to-late game can be incredibly strong and can turn teamfights in your team’s favor.

However, there’s a downside to this. Some players have also tried using her in the top lane, where she’s been picked in over 108,000 games, according to U.GG. Unfortunately, her win rate in the top lane hasn’t been as impressive as in the jungle.

For those who primarily play in the top lane, it’s easy to see why she’s struggling in that role. Nowadays, the top lane is all about solo battles and outlasting your opponent. While Briar might be excellent in one-on-one fights, her ability to sustain herself in the top lane is actually quite poor. With a little help from the jungler, it’s relatively simple to shut her down. Once she falls behind in the game, she can have minimal impact in mid-game teamfights.
