What was India’s Bowling Weakness against Travis Head and Steve Smith?
There is no doubt about the fact that both Travis Head and Steve Smith were successfully able to play their natural game, against the Indian bowling attack. This has shown that there is a lot for the Indian bowlers to learn from the first innings. An experienced bowler like Mohammed Shami needs to lead from the front, to ensure the bowlers around him feel confident.

Shardul Thakur’s Bowling
In the 8 test matches, Shardul has played till now. He has managed to take the wickets, with an average of 24.44. However, in the current WTC final, that wicket-taking ability was not visible, as a quick rate. He did manage to take a couple of wickets. But even gave away 83 runs. This is not that bad, when an experienced bowler like Shami gave away a lot more runs.
Shardul Against Smith:
As a bowler if you’re able to get the best test batsman clean-bowled. Then you really deserve a lot of credit and praise. There is no doubt that Steve Smith was on his way to a double century, but at the right time, Shardul got his wicket. He really got a big fish and he can certainly brag about it for a long time.
Shami certainly looked tired at the end of day 1. But as it is rightly pointed out by the great Sunil Gavaskar, they looked dispirited. That is because, when the best test batsman in the world is totally set on the crease, with Travis Head, then any bowling attack will lose its self-confidence. However, on Day 2, after breaking the 285 runs partnership. The bowlers got back in the flow, and they were able to get Australia out on 469.
Two days of the WTC final are over, and the partnership of Steve Smith, and Travis Head has certainly made a big difference. However, in test cricket, there is always enough time for a team to bounce back. That is what India would need to do in the next 3 days of the match.
