Star Indian Cricketer Ravindra Jadeja, accomplished the milestone of 500 wickets and 5,000 runs in international cricket on Wednesday. He is now the second Indian player to do so. At Indore’s third Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against India, he reached this milestone.

Travis Head, an Australian opener, was bowled leg before wicket by Jadeja for nine runs in six balls, marking the 500th wicket in international cricket. With 241 innings and 5,527 runs, Jadeja has averaged 33.29 runs in 298 international games. He has three hundreds and 31 half-centuries, with the greatest individual score being 175*.

In addition, he took 503 wickets in 298 games with an average of 29.35 and a 3.51 economy rate. His 7/42 inning bowling average is his best. Besides famous all-rounder and World Cup-winning great Kapil Dev, he is the only player to have amassed both 500 international wickets and 5,000 international runs.

Kapil Dev scored a total of 9,031 runs in 356 matches, across 382 innings at an average of 27.53. In his career, he amassed nine centuries and 41 half-centuries. In 356 international games, Kapil also claimed a total of 687 wickets, with his best bowling statistics being 9/83 in innings.

Along with Jadeja and Kapil Dev, other all-rounders in international cricket with at least 5,000 runs and 500 wickets include Wasim Akram, Imran Khan, and Shahid Afridi of Pakistan, Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh, Daniel Vettori of New Zealand, Ian Botham of England, Shaun Pollock and Jacques Kallis of South Africa, and Chaminda Vaas of Sri Lanka.

With regard to the game, India struggled mightily against spin, scoring a low total, getting all-out for just 109 runs in the first innings.
