Kapil Dev, a brand ambassador for Novo Nordisk, a major pharmaceutical company in Denmark, encouraged patients with diabetes to “not follow” anyone else’s diet or exercise routine. The World Cup-winning captain continued, “If people stop acting foolish and ‘take the appropriate prescription,’ diabetes can be handled effectively.”

With the introduction of modern technologies, such as patches, glucometers, and insulin pens, managing diabetes is today simpler than it was in the past, Indian cricket icon Kapil Dev remarked at an event on Thursday.

Kapil Dev spoke extensively about his experience dealing with Type-2 diabetes for more than 15 years and how a “structured schedule” assisted him in controlling his blood sugar levels. The captain of the World Cup-winning team in 1984 continued by saying that diabetes could be effectively treated if individuals stopped acting “ignorant” and “took the correct medication.”

At a celebration commemorating Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk’s 100th anniversary, he advised attendees that the best way to control diabetes is to “be creative and never be lazy.” The multinational pharmaceutical company that specializes in marketing insulin pens and anti-diabetic drugs has chosen Kapil Dev as its brand ambassador.

“I am quite proud of the company’s history, which is why I chose to be affiliated with this business. Consider a time before insulin was invented. We simply carry a pen-like device in our pockets and go about our daily lives as usual because of medicine manufacturers like these who made our lives so much easier.

The former cricketer advised young people and diabetics to “not follow” anyone else’s diet or fitness routine. “Be original, as we say in cricket.”
